S. Arias gets a second yellow card and is sent off.
Arias can't keep his emotion in check, kicking out at a USA player as bodies crowd together around the scene and he too is sent off here!
90' +3
M. Orozco goes off after a red card!
S. Arias gets yellow.
Arias is draped over Orozco and he won't be able to avoid a booking here.
IDIOTIC! Orozco marches down the tunnel, contemplating his stupidity as he's sent off deep in stoppage time, lashing out and throwing Arias to ground directly in front of the referee! What in the world was he thinking?!
90' +2
Zardes can't pick out the final ball! The forward does everything right on the flank, eluding challenges and advancing into a threatening position, with plenty of options in the centre, but he can't find the delivery the move was crying out for!
90'
There will be five minutes added on at the end of this match, plenty of time for some late drama.
88'
MORENO ALMOST ICES IT! The substitute does well to peel away from his marker and get into space at the far post, where he's picked out by Martinez. The striker takes a step inside and fires one through the legs of Cameron, but the defender gets the slightest of touches to take it an inch wide of the near post!
87'
S. Medina enters the game and replaces G. Celis.
M. Orozco gets yellow.
Colombia's final change sees Stefan Medina replace the injured Celis.
Orozco becomes the third American player booked.
85'
Celis picks up an injury and drops to the ground, calling for the training staff, which elicits a chorus of boos from the home supporters. Time is running out on the USA and this won't help their cause. The stretcher comes out for the Colombia midfielder, but surely the time will be added on following the 90 minutes.
83'
WOOD MISSES IT! An axe to the USA's hopes of equalising as Yedlin sprints down the left before pulling it back for Wood in the area, but it comes in too hot to handle as the striker completely whiffs on his effort!
81'
VENOMOUS STRIKE! Cardona loves to have a go from range, already producing some delightful efforts tonight, but this latest attempt takes the cake. He picks his head up and unloads a shot from close to 30 yards, stinging the palms of Howard who had to dive across in a hurry to keep that out!
Minute
Description
79'
R. Martínez enters the game and replaces C. Bacca.
D. Nagbe enters the game and replaces M. Bradley.
Darlington Nagbe comes on for the USA, desperate to make his mark on the tournament and he has 10 minutes to do so. Bradley is off in his place.
Roger Martinez replaces Bacca, whose goal is the difference right now, in a like-for-like change from Pekerman.
78'
Pulisic enters the fray and goes straight onto corner duty. He whips an inviting ball in towards the near post, but it's not attacked accordingly as Fabra acrobatically clears their lines - and that will invite more substitutions.
76'
STAT: Eight of the nine third-place matches in Copa America history have seen a goal scored in the 75th minute or later – 11 total scored in the final 15 minutes.
74'
M. Moreno enters the game and replaces J. Cuadrado.
C. Pulišić enters the game and replaces A. Bedoya.
Teenaget Christian Pulisic makes his third appearance of the tournament, replacing Bedoya.
Striker Marlos Moreno comes on to replace Cuadrado.
73'
J. Cuadrado gets yellow.
Cuadrado fouls Jones after conceding possession, which sees him go into the book - and that looks like it will be his last contribution of the night.
72'
Pekerman's side have weathered the storm in defence as they start to push out of their end and keep possession, affording their back-line with some much-needed respite. Substitutes are being readied for both sides as they brace themselves for the final stretch.
70'
Colombia are reverting into a shell in defence as they invite pressure from the USA, who are coming increasingly closer to finding an equaliser. Possession was slightly in the Cafeteros' favour after the first half, but it's shifted since, with the US holding a narrow edge.
68'
KLINSMANN'S SIDE CAN'T BUY A GOAL! They continue to knock on the door, but no one's answering their cries! Wood puts in more determined work inside the area to get beyond two defenders, but neglects to send Zardes through. Murillo intervenes to knock it away, but Dempsey pounces and pokes a clever first-time effort just wide of the post!
66'
STAT: The United States’ defeat to Argentina in the semi-final (4-0) was their worst since an loss to Spain by the same scoreline in June 2011, a span of 96 matches separating the two.
64'
WOOD ALMOST EQUALISES! It's coming to life in a big way here! Wood does brilliantly to ride out a challenge inside the area, switch onto his left and unload a strike towards the far post. It beats Ospina clean, but smacks off the inside of the post and stays out as the goal is left shaking!
62'
REMARKABLE EFFORT AND OH SO CLOSE FOR CUADRADO! The Juventus winger has yet to open his account in this tournament but so nearly does here with a splendid chip! He catches Howard off his line and lifts a stunning effort over the keeper's head, but it rattles off the underside of the bar and bounces on the wrong side of the line!
60'
The referee has been rather inconsistent in this match. He was calling a lot in the first half, letting very little contact go unpunished, but he's loosened his approach in the second half as he's kept the whistle in his pocket, which has really helped the match flow.
58'
ANOTHER OFFSIDE! The Americans are getting stretched too easily in defence. Their full-backs are being caught up the pitch and, in turn, it's leaving their centre-backs with a lot of ground to cover. Bacca is consistently making these diagonal runs which aren't being tracked, but again the hosts are bailed out by the linesman's flag.
56'
SHOULD BE TWO! The USA are let off the hook as they get complacent at the back, leaving James alone to peel off his marker at the far post and get on the end of a ball over the top. He takes a touch to control and then a second to lash an effort at goal, but he misses by inches at the far post!
54'
STAT: This is the second time Colombia and the USA have squared off in a Copa America third-place match. Los Cafeteros won the previous encounter, a 4-1 thrashing in Uruguay in 1995.
52'
INCREDIBLE SAVE! That's a world class stop from Ospina! The keeper covers a lot of ground as he dives towards the top corner to get his fingertips to Dempsey's outstanding free-kick from just over 25 yards! Wonderful stuff all around there!
50'
HOWARD WINS THE RACE! Colombia show excellent patience as they build along the periphery of the final third. James waits to pick out another peach of a pass through for Arias, who would have been able to roll it across for Bacca had he got there first, but Howard does so well to get off his line and collect at the vital moment.
48'
SLACK DEFENDING! Besler backs off as Cardona sprints forward, affording him time and space as he invites him to shoot. Cardona doesn't need to be asked twice, punishing a strike at goal from just over 20 yards, but it's always rising as Howard isn't made to work.
46'
Here we go again!
45' +2
HALF-TIME: USA 0-1 COLOMBIA.
45'
There will be two minutes added on at the end of this first half.
43'
OH SO CLOSE! Jones' cross is blocked by Arias, but the deflection takes it dangerously close to the near post with Ospina wrong-footed! The keeper can't get across, but he's relieved to see it crash into the side netting! The USA are inching towards the equaliser!
41'
J. Jones gets yellow.
Jones gets his elbow up in midfield on Cuadrado, and that's a painful one for the Colombian! It was reckless, not intentional, but it's enough to put the USA midfielder into the referee's book.
39'
STUNNING INTERVENTION! Outstanding penetration from the USA as Dempsey plays Wood through into the area. The forward can't take the chance right away as Bedoya is in his way, but he continues on. All he needs is to nick the ball beyond Arias and he's got a clean look at goal, but the full-back sticks a foot in to break up the move!
37'
INCHES AWAY! Zardes orchestrates an encouraging move for the hosts, finding space and picking out Jones in the centre. The midfielder scuffs his first-time effort, but Bedoya arrives on the follow-up, only to bounce an effort agonisingly wide of the top corner!
35'
When Colombia jumped out in front in the first meeting between these two sides a couple weeks ago, they were able to sit back in a defensive shell and afford the USA nothing on the front foot. Are they in for more of the same tonight or can they break down this stingy back-line?
33'
That's Colombia's first goal since the group stage, and no one can say it's not deserved. They've been knocking on the door all first half in attack, and finally have something to show for it. The hosts switched off, with Orozco again beaten, and the miscommunication in this make-shift defence is very apparent.
31'
C. Bacca has scored a goal for Colombia! Assist by S. Arias.
Delightful assist from Arias, showing excellent vision to square for Bacca with his head.
BACCA STRIKES, BRONZE BECKONS! Delightful build-up play from the Cafeteros! A splendid ball over the top from James picks out Arias, who heads across the face of goal for Bacca, and the striker slides ahead of his marker to tuck a finish in at the far post!
30'
STAT: Since the Copa America changed to the new format in 1993, there have been nine third-place play-off matches, which have seen 28 goals scored, averaging just over three per match.
28'
Steve Birnbaum is warming up on the touchline, but as Bradley makes his way off the pitch he signals over to Klinsmann that he wants to continue on. Toronto FC might not be happy to see him risk it, but the midfielder doesn't want to give up the fight, and you have to respect that about him.
26'
Bradley has played every minute for the USA in this tournament, but that's looking like it's in jeopardy as he goes down near the halfway line following an awkward collision. He's in obvious pain as the training staff comes out to attend to him, leaving the remainder of his match in doubt as he stays down for a prolonged period.
24'
WONDERFUL REACTIONS! Howard certainly doesn't show his age there, running off his line and out of the area in a hurry as he slides in to clear a delightful throughball that appeared to have Bacca through behind the defence! The USA are getting caught with a high line, riding their luck a bit here as they invite those sorts of balls to be played in behind.
22'
M. Besler gets yellow.
Orozco is getting caught too high up the pitch as he leaves far too much space behind him. Besler is forced to rush across and provide cover, and he's forced into a foul on James as a result which sees him into the book.
21'
The pace is showing no sign of slowing, with the two sides continuing to exchange attacks. Thus far the final ball hasn't quite been good enough, or consistent enough, for either team, which is about all that's kept this 0-0 in-tact up to this point.
19'
STAT: There have been 10 second-half goals scored in the last four third-place matches at the Copa America, compared to just four in the first half.
17'
DEFLECTED OVER! Lovely, end-to-end action in Glendale as these sides show no hesitation in pushing forward in search of the opener. The USA reply with a tidy counter of their own. Bedoya picks out Dempsey with a nifty pull-back, but the striker's first-time effort at the near post sails over the bar with the aid of a deflection!
15'
CRUCIAL HEADER! Arias makes waves down the right-hand side as he sprints into space on the overlap. The full-back whips in a flat cross that threatens to find Bacca in the centre, but a diving-header from Cameron sees him snuff out the danger as he knocks behind for a corner!
13'
J. Murillo gets yellow.
Murillo picks up a yellow for a cynical challenge to halt a counter.
SMART SAVE HOWARD! The keeper is called into action for the first time tonight and he shows no rust despite a largely disappointing season. James tests him with a stinging drive from 20 yards, but the ex-Everton keeper gets across to his near post to parry, before the offside flag denies Cardona on the rebound.
11'
The hosts enjoy a prominent spell in possession and get the crowd abuzz as they clinically work their way into the final third. A clever dummy from Jones, following a strong run from him to start the move, sees Bedoya presented with the ball atop the area, but he can't sort his footing as Colombia clear and break quickly on the counter.
9'
STAT: The USA have never finished higher than fourth at the Copa America in three previous appearances.
7'
OFFSIDE! Clever interplay from Colombia as Torres and James link-up admirably in the attacking half, before a first-time pass from the Real Madrid attacker looks to have sprung Bacca, but the striker recognises he started his run early and cuts it off as the flag goes up.
5'
The USA respond with some physical play, keen to set the tone themselves after Klinsmann called them out following the semi-final defeat. There's a decent tempo in these early stages, but it's Colombia who are doing most of the attacking.
3'
Colombia asserting themselves early in this contest, getting after the USA with some swift build-up play. Celis latches onto a loose ball atop the area following a corner, but he wastes a good opportunity by scuffing a tame shot at goal that's cleared before reaching Howard.
1'
AND WE'RE OFF! Colombia in white get us underway, attacking left to right, with the USA in black with red and blue trim.
It’s safe to say this isn’t the match either side wanted to be playing in this weekend. The USA were the latest in a long line of teams trounced by Argentina in the semi-finals, while Colombia got off to a poor start and never managed to recover as they were ousted by Chile on Wednesday.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage from the University of Phoenix Stadium as the United States and Colombia fight for third-place after missing out on an elusive spot in the Copa America Centenario final!
And thus, Colombia and the USA will end the tournament the same way it started – against each other. These two sides contested the opening match of the Copa America Centenario, with the Cafeteros walking away 2-0 winners thanks to first-half goals from Cristian Zapata and James Rodriguez. The hosts will seek revenge tonight, while Jose Pekerman’s side try and salvage something from a campaign that started with so much promise.
SUBS: R. Zapata, Bonilla, Mina, Medina, Aguilar, Perez, Roa, Martinez, D. Moreno, M. Moreno.
Jurgen Klinsmann makes six changes following the humbling 4-0 semi-final defeat to Argentina. Jermaine Jones, Alejandro Bedoya and Bobby Wood return from suspension, replacing Kyle Beckerman, Graham Zusi and Chris Wondolowski in the starting line-up. The coach has also taken the opportunity to rest a trio of players who haven't missed a minute of action yet in the Copa, as Brad Guzan, John Brooks and Fabian Johnson are afforded a break, with Tim Howard, Michael Orozco and Matt Besler taking their place in the XI.
Jose Pekerman makes just two changes to his side. Benfica's Guillermo Celis comes in for the suspended Carlos Sanchez, while Carlos Bacca returns to lead the line at the expense of Roger Martinez. The full-strength XI from Colombia shows their desire to take third place - this isn't a formality for them, but a chance to still finish in the top three.
Carlos Bacca has the Cafeteros in front at the end of a highly entertaining first half in Glendale. There's been no shortage of chances at either end, but the Americans are lacking the clinical nature they need in front of goal and that has been the only difference between the two sides up to this point.
Carlos Bacca secures a third-place finish for the Cafeteros as they defeat the Americans for a second time at the Copa America Centenario!
That's all for our live coverage from Glendale, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
Surprisingly the striker's goal holds out as the only one of the contest, despite a plethora of chances shared evenly between the two of them, but Tim Howard and David Ospina's heroics limit the damage as Colombia narrowly edge the hosts to win bronze.
