Donnarumma keeps this interesting until the last, diving full length from his goal to turn away a deep cross.
90' +2
Penalty goal scored by D. De Rossi for Italy!
GOAL! De Rossi trots up and places his spot-kick into the bottom-right corner. Cool as you like. 3-0.
Just as the penalty was awarded, a minimum of three added minutes were announced. Uruguay will want it to be over already.
90' +1
PENALTY! Italy will have a real chance for a third now! El Shaarawy is tripped in the area by Gimenez, who has had a day to forget.
88'
CLOSE! Almost a third for Italy! A fine, flowing move sees Darmian pick out El Shaarawy. He goes down, but the ball breaks twice for a shot, eventually deflecting narrowly wide of the right-hand post.
85'
It looks as though Italy will cruise to victory now. Uruguay initially looked to hit back, but the Azzurri are putting their opponents under pressure once again.
82'
M. Gabbiadini enters the game and replaces C. Immobile.
M. Corujo enters the game and replaces M. Pereira.
Éder has scored a goal for Italy!
SUB! Immobile is off for Manolo Gabbiadini.
SUB! Maxi Pereira also makes way, for Mathias Corujo.
GOAL! Eder scores, but what an impact from Gabbiadini! He creates the goal, charging through the Uruguay team and forcing an error at the back, and drills across the box for his newly established strike partner to toe into the top-left corner. 2-0.
81'
A slightly nervy moment for Donnarumma, the ball bouncing over his head as he went to make a simple catch, but he coolly shrugs off the error of judgement by controlling on his chest. Smooth.
78'
G. Chiellini enters the game and replaces A. Barzagli.
SUB! The set-piece comes to nothing and Italy bring on Giorgio Chiellini for Barzagli.
77'
SAVE! Italy want to kill the game all of a sudden! El Shaarawy bursts forward on the right, with Immobile in support, and steps inside to curl towards goal. Muslera saves brilliantly and it's a corner.
Minute
Description
75'
CHANCE! And what a chance! Italy have offered little going forward since the break, but Eder, completely unmarked at the back post, somehow nods a left-wing cross wide of the target. A horrible miss.
74'
That's lifted the crowd a little. Donnarumma charges from his goal, slides into a challenge and smashes the ball against the shins of Stuani to win a throw-in.
73'
A. Silva enters the game and replaces D. Rolán.
SUB! Rolan's game is up, on comes Alejandro Silva.
72'
Now Uruguay are keeping the ball, but the possession is fairly aimless. A largely neutral crowd are not best impressed by an underwhelming second half so far.
69'
And, with Bonucci in fine form, Italy are again choosing to keep the ball in their own half. Uruguay eventually nip in, but Bonucci - of course - wins the ball back.
67'
Montolivo shoots a long way wide from distance, having seen an effort blocked seconds earlier. With the clash between the two teams a few minutes ago - and the constant churn of substitutions - it's just a little flat here.
64'
S. El Shaarawy enters the game and replaces L. Insigne.
SUB! Insigne, impressive before the break, is replaced by Stephan El Shaarawy.
61'
N. Nández gets yellow.
The ball is pinging around the Uruguay half as each team does well to win the ball back and then cheaply loses it again. Finally, Uruguay hack clear.
YELLOW! There's a late challenge on Barzagli from Nahitan Nandez and, as the players rush to confront one another, he goes into the book.
59'
FOUL! Caceres has the ball in the net and he looks to be onside, but the referee deems that he had fouled Montolivo before nodding beyond Donnarumma. A slightly controversial call.
58'
F. Bernardeschi enters the game and replaces A. Candreva.
SUB! Candreva makes way and on comes Federico Bernadeschi.
56'
Donnarumma's not happy with the referee! He goes up for a lofted ball into the area and fails to catch the ball under pressure from three Uruguay players. The AC Milan keeper eventually clings to the ball, but he felt he was fouled prior to crucially reclaiming possession.
53'
Uruguay have really struggled with balls into the box today, repeatedly failing to clear and allowing Italy to pin them back. On this occasion, however, Martin Caceres' finely timed tackle takes the ball from Candreva in the area.
51'
That's exactly what Italy need from Immobile. As Uruguay start to build momentum and pressure the Azzurri defence, Montolivo picks out the forward, who controls well and goes down under a challenge. Free-kick on halfway and Bonucci and co can get a breather.
50'
That's better, though! Uruguay press and force Donnarumma to rush his pass, the ball then going out of play for a throw-in as Italy again fail to move the ball on effectively.
49'
Since the goal, Uruguay have really struggled to trouble the Italy goal. Whenever they win the ball back in the middle of the pitch, Rolan is completely isolated up against the imperious figures of Barzagli and Bonucci.
47'
An early corner to Italy in the second half, Montolivo seeing his shot deflect behind after some poor defending from Uruguay in failing to clear the ball. The set-piece, though, passes through the box and the South American side escape.
46'
C. Stuani enters the game and replaces C. Sánchez.
Éder enters the game and replaces A. Belotti.
SUB! Belotti, who was lively in the first half, is to be replaced by Eder.
KICK-OFF: We're back under way!
SUB! And, for Uruguay, Cristhian Stuani replaces Carlos Sanchez.
45' +3
HALF-TIME: Italy 1-0 Uruguay.
45' +2
Candreva cuts in from the right and drives over the top. That should be it for the first half...
45' +1
There are two minutes to be added on at the end of this entertaining first half.
44'
Italy are missing key men, but they are showing why they are a force to be reckoned with right now. They keep the ball, move it between defence and midfield, then break at speed. Uruguay, who started well, have struggled to keep up with their opponents.
41'
From the subsequent corner, Daniele de Rossi gets his head to the ball but nods well over.
What a challenge! Immobile's involved again and looked certain to score! Matias Vecino dives to the rescue as the forward lines up his shot.
39'
C. Immobile gets yellow.
YELLOW! Frustration for Immobile! He feels he is fouled as he goes down in the box under pressure from Coates, but the referee allows Uruguay to clear and win a free-kick of their own. Immobile's angry reaction earns a booking.
38'
Bonucci has seen a lot of the ball so far, with the pace now slowing down again, allowing the Juve man to dictate play from the back.
35'
CLOSE! Yet again, Italy break! This time, they work the ball better, Insigne's one-two on the left creating room for the winger to volley across the face of goal.
34'
Now a corner at the other end, though, as Darmian recovers to nod a right-wing cross behind...
33'
Brilliant from Matteo Darmian! He wriggles through three challenges on the right-hand side of the box and so nearly tees up a team-mate in the middle with his square pass.
32'
Uruguay scramble the set-play clear, but Italy still have men forward, with Barzagli and Bonucci camped on the halfway line, and they are keeping the ball well to work the defence.
31'
Belotti continues to run in behind. This time he peels away towards the left and forces a corner from Sebastian Coates...
29'
Oh, what a chance for Italy to break! From a Uruguay corner, they clear and suddenly have four against three in attack. A poor, poor final pass towards Candreva is cut out, though, and the South Americans can breathe a sigh of relief.
28'
Uruguay's energy levels have dipped slightly, starting with Rolan. Where previously he was harrying Barzagli and Bonucci, the Italy defenders are now allowed time on the ball to pick out those forward runs.
26'
Another slip - or maybe a dummy - and the ball just runs away from Candreva on the opposite side of the box. Uruguay are living dangerously.
25'
A slip at the back for Uruguay allows Insigne to get in near the byline, but his lofted cross is well gathered by Muslera.
23'
Rolan is the focal point for Uruguay and he's working hard in the absence of Cavani, but he's yet to have a chance like the one Belotti had earlier.
21'
Uruguay continue to put the pressure on, but Italy are a threat on the break. Belotti continues to run in behind and Insigne has so far done a good job at picking out his team-mate.
18'
R. Montolivo enters the game and replaces C. Marchisio.
Marchisio, who was a substitute for Juve in the Champions League, is struggling here and it seems he may have to be substituted.
SUB! Riccardo Montolivo is on for Marchisio.
15'
SAVE! Muslera, who had enjoyed a quiet few minutes, is forced into action again, diving to his right to tip Antonio Candreva's shot around the post.
13'
The game has just settled a little now, but Uruguay continue to come forward. They are attacking mainly down the right and getting some joy up against Leonardo Spinazzola.
10'
CLOSE! Both sides are really going for this! Alvaro Gonzalez flashes a shot wide from 20 yards.
9'
SAVE! There's a wonderful pace to this game! Uruguay look to respond and Donnarumma does well to palm a corner clear, before Italy attack again. Belotti draws a fine save from Muslera, who gathers the follow-up, too.
7'
J. Giménez is unfortunate, scores an own goal!
GOAL! It's an own goal and what an own goal from Gimenez! Insigne's fine pass found Belotti in behind and, when he failed to control, Gimenez, closing in, crashed into a challenge that sent the ball flying over Muslera's head and into the top-right corner. 1-0.
5'
SAVE! A first shot on goal from Italy, but Lorenzo Insigne, cutting in from the left, can only curl tamely straight at Fernando Muslera.
4'
C. Marchisio gets yellow.
YELLOW! There have been a few tough early challenges and Marchisio goes into the book for a foul on Jose Gimenez.
3'
Almost a first chance for Italy! Bonucci drives the ball forward and it's touched off for Ciro Immobile on the edge of the box, but he fails to take control.
SAVE! And now there is an effort at the other end! Rolan, from a tight angle on the right, drills straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma.
2'
It's been a lively opening minute, the ball pinging from end to end, and Barzagli gives Diego Rolan an early reminder of his presence with a crunching challenge.

KICK-OFF: Uruguay get us under way!
Hello and welcome to our live text commentary as Italy face Uruguay in an international friendly in Nice!
After a weakened side thrashed San Marino last week, Italy will be using this match as preparation for Sunday's home World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein. They are tied with Spain at the top of UEFA's Group G after five matches.
Uruguay, meanwhile, lost to Republic of Ireland in Dublin last Sunday, but their next competitive clash is not until August's qualifier at home to Argentina.
Uruguay are without Edinson Cavani, who was injured in the Ireland defeat.
Most Italian eyes were focused on Cardiff and the Champions League final on Saturday, where Serie A champions were beaten by Real Madrid. Three of the players involved in that game - Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Claudio Marchisio - start for Italy today.
This is the latest high-profile international where video assistant referees (VAR) will be used as new technology is phased in.
The anthems are complete and we are just about ready for kick-off!
Subs: Guruceaga, Conde, Corujo, G Silva, Ricca, A Silva, Rios, Laxalt, Stuani.
In the teams' nine previous meetings, Italy have won just twice, with four draws and three Uruguay victories. The South American side came out on top in their last game, a 1-0 group stage success at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Despite a bright start from Uruguay, Italy deserve their lead, even if the goal - from the unwitting boot of Gimenez - came about in bizarre fashion.
That was all very easy for Italy in the end. Uruguay huffed and they puffed, but they always faced an uphill battle after Gimenez's own goal. Strikes from Eder and De Rossi, from the spot, added gloss to the scoreline.
That's all from Nice. Thanks for joining us and, until next time, goodbye!
