Another United change sees Mata replaced by Axel Tuanzebe.
90' +1
WIDE! A free header for Keane from a corner, but the ex-United man can't convert.
90'
Only Romelu Lukaku (15) has scored more goals for Man Utd in all competitions this season than Jesse Lingard (10).
87'
D. Blind enters the game and replaces J. Lingard.
A change for United, as Lingard makes way for Daley Blind.
86'
In fact, Lingard has averaged a goal involvement every 76 minutes this season (as it stands) - before this season in the Premier League, that average was every 378 mins
85'
Jesse Lingard has now been involved in 11 goals in 18 Premier League games this season (seven goals, four assists).
83'
M. Holgate gets yellow.
A booking now for Holgate, who had scythed down Lingard.
81'
D. Calvert-Lewin enters the game and replaces O. Niasse.
J. Lingard has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by P. Pogba.
GOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! What a strike from Lingard! Just as Everton were looking to get back into the game, Holgate throws it straight at Pogba. He slips a pass into Lingard, who proceeds to drive to the edge of the area and thump a sublime finish past Pickford.
It’s game over, surely, at Goodison Park now. Pogba has been superb today, and has marked his display with two assists.
Allardyce now uses his final substitute - Oumar Niasse making way for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
78'
What a save from Pickford, who gets down low to his left to tip Lingard's stinging strike wide.
77'
M. Rashford enters the game and replaces A. Martial.
Again, McCarthy prevents United from breaking with a great challenge, which is unfairly pulled up by the officials. That will allow United to make a change, with goalscorer Martial trudging slowly over to be replaced by Rashford.

Description
76'
McCarthy’s arrival has certainly sparked Everton into life, adding some bite to their midfield. Allardyce still has Sigurdsson available, and should be looking to utilise the Iceland playmaker sooner rather than later…
75'
Vlasic swings in a corner that Williams prods towards goal, but again, it is blocked before it reaches De Gea. Moments later, McCarthy denies a United counter with a superb challenge on Mata.
74'
Pogba gets easily shoved off the ball by Holgate, who manages to get it back to Davies, whose strike is blocked. Everton are well on the up, now, as Keane shoves over Martial with a thumping challenge.
72'
That chance has spurred the crowd on, and Allardyce’s side look to finally testing United’s defence once more. They have to be wary of getting caught on the break, though.
70'
A rare period of possession for Everton, and they mange to pen United back. Holgate whips in a dangerous cross following a good tackle from McCarthy, but Niasse can’t hit the target.
67'
Everton have, for all their faults, stayed in this game. But Allardyce’s side did look to attack in the first half, and caused United some issues. Since the interval, however, the Toffees have simply tried to soak up the pressure - and failed to do so. Still over 20 minutes remaining, however.
64'
CHANCE! That should have been 2-0! Keane, who has been dreadful today, gets caught out by Martial, whose cross finds Pogba, but the France midfielder can’t turn it in.
62'
J. McCarthy enters the game and replaces W. Rooney.
A. Lennon enters the game and replaces Y. Bolasie.
Two changes now for Everton. The first one sees Aaron Lennon come on for Yannick Bolasie.
The second change is a strange one. Wayne Rooney has had a poor game, but he is without doubt one of Everton's only goal threats. He is going off, and hsi replacement is the more defensive-minded James McCarthy.
61'
An outrageous bit of skill from Pogba, who makes a fool out of Davies and Schneiderlin to thread a pass into Martial. Mata then gets involved, but can’t keep the ball in play.
60'
Everton are under the cosh, and Allardyce must look to make changes. At the moment, though, the hosts have a corner to defend…
59'
Martial has scored his 7th Premier League goal of the season in what is his 20 app. Only three of these goals have come as a starter.
57'
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by P. Pogba.
GOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!! Rooney concedes the ball high upfield, and United counter. The ball falls to Martial, and he slots into the top corner. It has been coming, and Everton can have no complaints.
It was fantastic work from Pogba, who exposed Everton on the counter and picked the right pass into Martial, whose first touch and finish was sublime.
56'
Important work from Keane, who just manages to get to Matic’s pass, with Lingard having made a penetrating run in behind Everton’s line.
55'
CLOSE! Brilliant from Pogba, who creates space for himself down the left and drives at goal, but his eventual effort flashes wide.
53'
Great defending from Martina, who covers across to clear Shaw’s cross, with Herrera ready to tuck home from close range
51'
POST! What an effort from Mata! Everton are sitting far too deep and handing United far too much space, and Mata very nearly makes them pay with a wicked strike that beats Pickford, only to clip away off the woodwork.
49'
Everton have completely stepped off United in the early stages of this second half, allowing the visitors to prod and probe, with the Toffees lacking any attacking outlet to get them up the pitch.
47'
SAVE! Keane switches off in Everton’s defence, allowing Shaw to pounce on a loose ball and tee up Mata, whose powerful shot is tipped over by Pickford.
46'
We're back for the second half at Goodison. No changes for either side at the interval.
45' +1
There will be one minute of added time at the end of this half...
43'
W. Rooney gets yellow.
Rooney knew he had to take a booking there, after Keane had got too tight to Martial, who easily turned free of the former Burnley man.
42'
CLOSE! Schneiderlin gets caught out by Lingard’s pace, and United’s midfielder proceeds to drive forward before thumping a strike goal wards, but Pickford always looked to have it covered.
41'
Great work from Vlasic as he spins away from his marker before teeing up Holgate, but the full-back’s first-time cross is easily saved by De Gea.
40'
Everton lose the ball high upfield - Pogba kick-staring a swift United counter. The ball falls to Herrera on the edge of Everton’s area, but Rooney is back to turn his strike wide.
38'
CLOSE! Wow. What an effort from Pogba, whose strike deflects just wide off Davies. Everton clear the danger from the corner, though, with Bolasie leading the charge with a great run down the left.
37'
CHANCE! A poor clearance from De Gea allows Everton to break - Bolasie slipping it into Davies. The youngster tries to blast a shot across goal, but it is blocked.
35'
Rooney concedes possession right on the edge of Everton’s area, with Herrera picking up the scraps. The Spain midfielder’s strike flies over, however.
34'
Manchester United haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last six Premier League away games – they last had a longer run without recording a shutout on the road in December 2013 (10 games). Everton, however, really lack fluency going forward, at the moment.
31'
United are certainly finding joy down Everton’s right flank, but the Toffees are also exploiting United’s right-back position, with Bolasie seemingly having the better of Lindelof.
29'
Desperate defending from Everton, as Keane and Holgate are opened up down the left. Martial flashes a cross-cum-shot across the face of goal, but Pickford and Martina react to clear the danger.
28'
Rojo turns Mata’s cross goal wards, but Pickford is able to make an easy save and start another Everton move.
27'
A free-kick for United in a dangerous area, now, as Lingard gets brought down by Keane around 35 yards out…
26'
Everton have to be wary of pressing too far up the pitch, with Lingard and Martial - in particular - looking dangerous on the counter. As I type, Jones tries his luck from range, but the defender’s strike sails way over.
24'
CLOSE! Great defending from Rojo! Some hap-hazard counter-attacking play from Everton sees Niasse bundle his way into the area but, just as he looked set to prod home, Rojo gets across with an immense block.
23'
United have started to control possession in recent minutes, with Everton’s defence and midfield pressed extremely deep already. No signs of a way through yet, though.
22'
Sloppy play from Rooney enables Matic to feed Herrera in midfield. The Spaniard threads a pass through to Martial, but the striker’s touch takes the ball straight to Pickford.
20'
This game has just failed to settle so far, with neither side managing to get a foothold on proceedings. Everton have managed five attempts to United’s one, but none on target so far.
18'
Out of nothing, Everton win a corner. Niasse did well to turn a header into Davies, who spins off his marker before unleashing a shot that Jones could only deflect wide. Rooney's ball is a dengerous one, but United clear. Vlasic wins it back, but can't keep his effort down.
16'
Everton have won four of their eight home league games against Manchester United in the 2010s (D2 L2), after winning just two of their 19 against them at Goodison Park in the 1990s and 2000s combined (W2 D3 L14).
14'
A spell of possession from Everton in United’s half doesn’t result in a chance, and the visitors manage to forge a decent attack themselves. Pogba gets free and looks to square it, but Bolasie recovers in time to prevent Lindelof getting a shot off after Herrera had missed it.
11'
The strong wind that is whipping across Goodison is certainly causing issues for both sides, but this time Everton do well to work a neat move down the right - Niasse forcing Rojo into conceding a corner, but the hosts can’t make anything of it.
9'
STAT - Mourinho has lost none of his 11 Premier League meetings with Allardyce (W8 D3) – the manager he’s faced the most in the competition without losing, while likewise Mourinho is the manager Allardyce has faced the most without winning.
7'
It appears that United are lining up in more of a 4-2-3-1 system at the moment, with Pogba playing behind Lingard, who is starting in a central role. Martial is out on the left.
6'
Rooney puts in a decent cross from the set-piece, which Holgate rises highest to meet. The youngster can’t direct his effort on target, though.
5'
Great play from Vlasic gets Everton into the final third. He works it to Holgate, whose shot is blocked. Rooney gets onto the rebound, and his strike is deflected wide for a corner…
4'
This is Everton's first Premier League home game on New Year’s Day since a 2-2 draw with Man City in 2003 – each of their last seven on January 1st have been away from home.
2'
In hugely difficult conditions, Everton make a positive start - Bolasie getting free of Lindelof down the left with some great skill and a fine turn of pace. The former Crystal Palace winger lofts in a cross, but De Get is well-placed to gather it in.
1'
KICK OFF! After a minute of applause for Evertonians who passed away in 2017, we are underway at Goodison, with United getting the game up and running.
Hello and welcome, football fans, to LIVE coverage of the final Premier League game of New Year's Day, as Everton take on Manchester United at Goodison Park!
Sam Allardyce's unbeaten start as Everton boss came tumbling to a halt against Bournemouth last time out - Ryan Fraser's double either side of Idrissa Gueye’s equaliser enough for Eddie Howe's side to snatch the points at the Vitality Stadium.
Jose Mourinho's United, on the other hand, come into this game on the back of a torrid run - relatively speaking. The Red Devils are in third, but a mammoth 15 points shy of leaders Manchester City. United, like Everton, haven't managed a win over the festive period, having drawn their three games so far.
Those draws came on the back of a League Cup defeat to Bristol City, but a victory would see them move back above Chelsea and into second place.
In fact, should United win today, they’ll set a record for most Premier League wins for a team against a specific opponent (currently 34, the same as Man Utd vs Aston Villa).
Team news is in from Goodison Park, with some interesting selections from both managers. We’ll start with Everton…
Seven changes in total from Allardyce from the side that started against Bournemouth two days ago. Possibly with half-an-eye on the Merseyside derby on Friday, Idrissa Gueye drops out all together, with Tom Davies coming in. Up front, there is a start for Our Niasse, with Wayne Rooney - United’s all-time record goalscorer - returning to the midfield. Gylfi Sigurdsson is on the bench, meaning Yannick Bolasie makes his first start at Goodison Park since suffering a serious knee injury in the corresponding fixture last season.
Manchester United substitutes: Smalling, Blind, Rashford, Romero, Mkhitaryan, Darmian, Tuanzebe.
Manchester United (4-3–3): De Gea; Lindelof, Jones, Rojo, Shaw; Herrera, Matic, Pogba; Mata, Martial, Lingard.
Injury-hit United were poor against Southampton on Saturday, and their misery was compounded when Romelu Lukaku picked up a head injury which has kept him out of this game against his former club. Anthony Martial deputises up top, with Ander Herrera replacing Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Ashley Young, meanwhile, is suspended - Marcos Rojo coming in to the defence.
With Liverpool having won at Burnley, the Reds are now level on points with United. Everton, meanwhile, enjoyed a brilliant run of results at home in 2017, and the Toffees will be hoping to take that form into the new year.
HALF TIME: Everton 0 Manchester United 0.
A real lack of quality so far at Goodison Park, with neither side having managed to create a clear-cut chance. United have had their moments attacking mainly down Everton’s vulnerable right flank, while Bolasie has looked sharp down Everton’s left.
United have had more of the ball, but it has mainly been when Everton have crept out of their defensive shape that the visitors have found space on the counter. Rojo, however, has been called into action to deny Niasse at the other end.
Well, that’s all from me for now. Thank you and goodbye!
Everton, meanwhile, put in a dismal second-half showing, and Allardyce will now turn his attention to Friday’s Merseyside derby in the FA Cup third round.
A start to 2018 for United, who move back into second place and end their winless run thanks to two excellent goals from Martial and Lingard, and a stunning display from Pogba.
