77'
Germany are really ramping up the pressure as they desperately try to take the lead. More good play from them results in two chances on goal, but on both occasions last-ditch blocks deny them.
75'
What a save by Areola! It looks certain Ginter is going to head Germany into the lead from the resulting corner, but Areola somehow manages to get a hand to the defender's close-range header to deny him. World class!
74'
And now Muller goes close! The Bayern Munich man cuts inside from the left flank and chips a cross-cum-shot towards the top right-hand corner of the net, where Areola pulls off a great save to push the ball over the crossbar.
72'
Thumping strike by Hummels! The centre-back embarks on a remarkable run forward before chipping a cross over to Muller. The forward fails to get a decent shot away but the ball returns to Hummels, who then forces Areola into making a great diving save with a rocket of a shot.
71'
Werner is finding plenty of joy over on the left wing, where he's causing all sorts of problems for Pavard. Once again he gets the better of the full-back before finding Kroos, but the midfielder fails to shoot quickly enough and is dispossessed.
69'
Poor from Mbappe! France immediately counter-attack and present the Paris Saint-Germain forward with a great chance to open the scoring, but he scuffs his shot from the edge of the penalty area and sends it well wide of the goal.

Germany are certainly looking the more threatening of the two teams as they continue to boss possession. Kimmich heads towards the right-hand edge of the penalty area and tries to pick out Muller, but Varane is just about able to cut in front of the forward at the vital moment.
29'
Werner is dispossessed by Kante on the edge of the France box and, despite the pleas from the home fans for a free-kick, the visitors quickly counter-attack. They aren't able to make the move count, though, as Giroud's hooked pass towards Griezmann only finds Rudiger.

More good play by Germany results in another cross being sent into the box, but Rudiger's ball is cut out and can't quite find Werner in front of goal. This is better from the home side, who are attacking with more purpose.
21'
Space is left available for Ginter to run into over on the right flank. The defender then chips a curling cross into the heart of the penalty area, but it's sent too near to Areola and is easily caught by the goalkeeper.
19'
Chance for Werner! The striker is drifting all over the final third of the pitch, and he's finally able to unleash the first shot of the game. It's a slightly underhit one after he cuts in from the left channel, but Areola still has to pull off a decent save to deal with it.

15'
More good play by Lucas over on the left flank sets up the full-back to cross after he comfortably barges past Werner. His ball into the box is a poor one, though, and it sails high over the heads of everyone inside the box.

We're off! It's France who get us underway.
The home side continued to improve as the game wore on, and they certainly will have gained confidence from tonight's outing. It was always going to take something special to beat France, though. Les Bleus, unbeaten since March, now go on to face the Netherlands in their next Nations League game.
They may not have won but you feel Germany desperately needed a result like that after a disastrous World Cup campaign. They were arguably the better of the two sides and created a multitude of chances during the second half, but excellent goalkeeping from Areola denied them the opportunity to pick up all three points.
It took Germany a while to get into the game but the home fans will be relatively pleased with what they've seen so far. They've attacked with more speed and intent than they did during the World Cup, with Werner and Muller getting increasingly involved as the first half wore on.
It remains goalless at the break, but both sides have gone close enough to suggest they'll be able to find the back of the net during the second half. Germany have arguably been the better of the two teams so far but a late flurry from France means it's still all to play for.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
Meanwhile, France head coach Didier Deschamps has made just one alteration to the team that featured in the World Cup final, with debutant Areola taking the place of the injured Hugo Lloris.
Tonight’s Germany side isn’t too dissimilar to the one that started the shock defeat against South Korea, with Boateng, Rudiger, Ginter and Muller coming into the starting line-up to replace Hector, Khedira, Ozil and Sule, with only the latter still in the squad after June’s humiliation.
France substitutes: Benjamin Lecomte, Presnel Kimpembe, Thomas Lemar, Ousmane Dembele, Corentin Tolisso, Steven Nzonzi, Adil Rami, Nabil Fekir, Djibril Sidibe, Florian Thauvin, Benjamin Mendy, Benoit Costil.
France XI (4-2-3-1): Alphonse Areola; Benjamin Pavard, Raphael Varane, Samuel Umtiti, Lucas Hernandez; N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba; Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, Blaise Matuidi; Olivier Giroud.
Germany substitutes: Jonathan Tah, Thilo Kehrer, Julian Draxler, Julian Brandt, Nico Schulz, Niklas Sule, Leroy Sane, Kai Havertz, Ilkay Gundogan, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Nils Petersen.
Germany XI (4-2-3-1): Manuel Neuer; Joshua Kimmich, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng, Antonio Rudiger; Matthias Ginter, Toni Kroos; Leon Goretzka, Thomas Muller, Marco Reus; Timo Werner.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Germany scraped a 2-2 draw against their opponents the last time the two sides met back in November, but it’s France who have enjoyed the better record in recent years. On only two occasions since 1996 have Die Mannschaft triumphed against Les Bleus, with the latter coming away with victories in two of the last three meetings.
As for France, they have an opportunity to get one over the team whose crown they claimed just under two months ago. Didier Deschamps’ men were at their pragmatic, streetwise best throughout the World Cup, and they’ll be aiming to continue what has proved to be a thoroughly impressive 2018 with another confident performance against the former world champions.
Today’s game represents a chance for Germany to restart and rebuild after the disastrous defence of their World Cup win, and it’s set to be a real test of their strength. There’s no Mesut Ozil, who stood down from the national team and accused the federation of racism, while the likes of Sami Khedira, Sebastian Rudy and Jonas Hector have also dropped out of the squad that travelled to Russia.
Tonight’s clash brings together the winners of the last two World Cups, but the sides head into what should be a fascinating encounter under dramatically different circumstances. For France, they’re still on a high thanks to their triumph in Russia, while Germany are taking to the field for the first time since their shock group stage exit.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of today’s Nations League game between Germany and France at the Allianz Arena.
