We’re into stoppage time, of which there will be four minutes.
88'
K. Havertz enters the game and replaces T. Werner.
Low makes his sixth change of the game. Werner’s race is run, and he makes way for youngster Kai Havertz - it’s an international debut for the 19-year-old.
87'
Gallese’s mistake may ultimately cost Peru, but he has at least come up with a good save now, rushing off his line to deny Werner from a tight angle.
85'
N. Schulz has scored a goal for Germany! Assist by N. Petersen.
S. Peña enters the game and replaces R. Ruidíaz.
Nevertheless, it’s a great moment for Schulz, who tried his luck with a first-time strike and it paid off. It is also a positive for substitute Petersen who, after missing that chance earlier, has now got an assist to his name.
GOAL! GERMANY LEAD! It’s a debut goal for Schulz, but what a terrible bit of goalkeeping from Gallese! Peru’s shot-stopper has been in fine form today, but he made a horrid error there, completely misjudging Schulz’s low shot, which trickled under his arms and into the bottom-right corner.
Peru have responded with another change. Ruidiaz has made way for Sergio Pena.
84'
T. Müller enters the game and replaces İ. Gündoğan.
Here’s another change for the hosts. Muller is on, replacing Gundogan, who has had a rather quiet game in midfield.
82'
CLOSE! A wicked cross from Kehrer causes Peru’s defence all sorts of issues, and Araujo is lucky that his deflection did not guide the ball inside the post. From the resulting corner, Germany work it to Draxler on the edge of the area, but his strike skims over.
80'
That’s a needless challenge from Advincula, who lunged in rather recklessly on Draxler, and the playmaker is now down receiving treatment. There is not really any requirement for a tackle such as that in a friendly, and the full-back can consider himself lucky not to have picked up a second booking.
78'
Peru cause a threat on the counter once again, but this time Germany’s defence get back into shape quickly, and Schulz - who has improved since the second-half restart - makes a good interception.
76'
H. Calcaterra enters the game and replaces Y. Yotún.
Another stoppage now, as Advincula - who has been impressive all game - has to receive treatment following a heavy collision. Gallese, too, looks to be getting some medical attention.
74'
CHANCE! Almost an immediate impact from Petersen, as he latches onto a loose ball after Gallese failed to deal with a free-kick, but the striker couldn’t direct his volley on target.
73'
L. Advíncula gets yellow.
Advincula, who put Peru ahead midway through the first half, has picked up a booking.
72'
T. Kehrer enters the game and replaces M. Ginter.
A fourth substitution from Low. Ginter has made way for Kehrer, who provides a more natural fit at right-back. It's a senior international debut for the Paris Saint-Germain youngster.
70'
N. Petersen enters the game and replaces J. Brandt.
Here’s another change for Germany and it is, unfortunately so, in my opinion, Brandt who makes way. The winger has been excellent today, and took his goal in style. He is replaced by Freiburg forward Petersen.
68'
While their finishing has been wasteful, Germany’s defence will be the main cause of concern for Low. Boateng did not look steady in the first half, but Rudiger hasn’t exactly provided a calming presence either, although it is mainly the shape and positioning that seems to be the issue.
67'
M. López enters the game and replaces É. Flores.
Flores can’t carry on, and Lopez is on in his place as Peru are forced into their first change.
65'
There’ll be a break in play now, as Flores receives some treatment for what at first appeared to be cramp, but then looked more serious as he hobbled to the touchline, and it looks like he will be going off.
63'
After that flurry of action, this game has settled again now, and we could well be in for another glut of changes soon. One player who will be hoping not to go off is Brandt, who has excelled so far.
60'
Ter Stegen is again called on to keep Peru out, this time doing well to hold onto a powerful effort from Ruidiaz. This game is wide open, and moments later, Gallese has to be on his toes to prevent Draxler getting in on goal.
58'
How has that not gone in!? This time it’s Peru who will be wondering how they are not ahead. The visitors carved Germany open on the break, with Farfan bringing down a crossfield pass before, just like Werner before him, prodding a strike over the bar when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
56'
MISS! That should have been 2-1! Wonderful play from Germany on the counter, as the hosts finally burst back into life. Brandt is the key, as he drives forward at pace before sliding a fantastic, pinpoint pass across the face of the box and into Werner but, with just the goalkeeper to beat, the striker lofts his effort over.
54'
Another huge chance for Peru! Germany fail to deal with a corner and Ter Stegen is forced into action to keep out a header. The rebound falls out to Farfan, but he can’t squeeze the ball home.
51'
The half-time break and the two substitutions have stalled the rhythm of this match somewhat, and Germany are still trying to find their feet. They’re seeing plenty of possession, but their play in the final third isn’t as sharp as it was at times during the first half.
48'
CHANCE! That’s a huge opportunity for Peru. Again, Germany’s defending leaves a lot to be desired, as Ruidiaz gets into the box unmarked to meet a cross from the left. Rudiger just manages to do enough, though, lunging across to put the winger off, and the ball soars over.
46'
J. Draxler enters the game and replaces M. Reus.
A. Rüdiger enters the game and replaces J. Boateng.
And the second Germany change sees Rudiger replace Boateng. No alterations from Peru at the interval.
We are back underway!
Indeed, Reus has been taken off. He is replaced by Draxler.
45'
HALF-TIME: GERMANY 1-1 PERU.
43'
Germany clear the initial set-piece, but Peru keep up the pressure. That is, at least, until Ruidiaz is flagged for offside.
41'
In a rare venture forward for Peru, Yotun finds enough space to let rip with a long-range strike, but Ter Stegen is on hand to make the stop. Moments later, Peru’s number 19 is forward again, linking up with Farfan after some excellent hold up play from the makeshift forward, and the visitors win a corner.
39'
No penalty! Peru get lucky there! Sule clearly gets dragged down in the area from the resulting corner, but the referee waves away the appeals.
38'
CHANCE! Quick play from Germany sees Gundogan charge into the area and get a shot off, but Gallese stands tall and makes an excellent save.
37'
Peru are on the back foot again now, and will be hoping to get through to half-time on level terms.
34'
NO GOAL! Fantastically composed play from Werner, who showed great footwork to round Gallese and tuck home, but it won’t stand, as the linesman’s flag is up for offside.
32'
That’s risky play from Schulz! The Hoffenheim man is predominantly a midfielder for his club side, but has been drafted in at left-back today, and Advincula is giving him a torrid time down that side. Again, Peru’s marauding full-back drives into the area, with Schulz diving in, just winning enough of the ball before he bundled into his opponent to ensure that no penalty is awarded.
30'
Germany’s hap-hazard defending has to be a concern to Low, and as it stands it is rather hard to see any improvements in that area of the pitch. Germany do seem to have more zip and guile about them going forward, at least, with Brandt impressing and - on another night - Reus could have already had a hat-trick.
27'
Reus will be a relieved man, with Brandt’s goal having cancelled out his earlier misses, but Germany certainly know they are in a game!
25'
J. Brandt has scored a goal for Germany! Assist by T. Kroos.
GERMANY ARE LEVEL! That didn’t last long! Peru get themselves into trouble again, and this time they are made to pay - Kroos feeding Brandt, who lofts a wonderful finish over Gallese.
Germany's pressing down the right was good, and they were swift in finding Kroos on the edge of Peru's box, and the Real Madrid playmaker duly picked out Brandt with a sharp pass. The Bayer Leverkusen winger set himself well, before keeping his cool to find the net.
22'
L. Advíncula has scored a goal for Peru! Assist by C. Cueva.
It really was terrible defending from Germany, who looked every bit as vulnerable then as they did in Russia. Cueva easily got the better of Schulz and played in Advincula, who made no mistake, although Ter Stegen could have done better.
GOAL! Peru are ahead! Well, against the run of play, it’s the visitors who lead, and it is Advincula who has got it. One pass left Germany’s defence all at sea, and Cueva was able to spin clear of his marker and play the ball into the full-back, who had plenty to do but did it in style, arrowing a low finish in at Ter Stegen’s near post.
21'
Another chance for Reus! Brandt is again involved as he spins infield and lays the ball off to Gundogan, who spreads a neat diagonal wide to the advancing Ginter. He crosses into Reus, but he swings wildly at it and Peru escape unscathed.
20'
MISS! That’s a sitter! Dreadful play from Peru hands the ball back to Germany high upfield. Brandt slips in Werner, who turns it straight onto Reus but, with an open goal to aim at, he fails to connect properly and skews the ball wide.
18'
Germany are starting to turn it up a gear now, with Kroos and Kimmich dictating the tempo in the middle, while Brandt, Reus and Werner are linking up well. At the moment, though, the final pass is just evading them.
16'
Clumsy play from the debutant Schulz, who commits a silly foul in the Peru box, when his opponent had nowhere to go, and Werner was on hand to capitalise on any error.
14'
CHANCE! That should be 1-0 to Germany! Kroos delivers a brilliant corner from the right, which Ginter meets. The defender is in acres of space, with Peru’s defence leaving him unmarked in the six-yard box, but he can only direct his header straight at Gallese.
12'
It has been a quick, open start to this game, which isn’t always the case with friendlies. Germany are, naturally, seeing most of the ball, but Peru have offered a threat on the counter-attack, albeit their passing - especially at the back and in midfield - has left a lot to be desired.
9'
There is no Leroy Sane for Germany, but that is due to the winger having left to attend the birth of his daughter. Brandt, who was selected ahead of the Manchester City winger for Germany’s World Cup squad and now wearing the number 10 shirt vacated by Ozil, has looked sharp so far, providing the main outlet in terms of pace and width for the home side.
5'
Fancy footwork from Farfan, as he links up with Cueva on the edge of Germany's box. The former Schalke man played a neat backheel that had Boateng back pedalling, but the Bayern Munich defender manages to steward the ball away from Cueva.
3'
CHANCE! Sloppy play from Peru allows the hosts to counter, with Reus slipped through on goal. The pass is just ahead of the Borussia Dortmund forward, though, and he can’t get enough purchase on the ball to lift it over the advancing Gallese, who makes a good stop.
2'
Well, that's audacious! From the off, Peru press high, and subsequently win possession just inside Germany’s half. Ruidiaz has some time on the ball, and elects to try his luck from around 40 yards out. It’s a decent effort, but Ter Stegen has it covered.
1'
KICK-OFF! Germany, in their black and white strip, get proceedings up and running.
Hello and welcome to LIVE coverage of the international friendly between Germany and Peru!
Now Joachim Low’s side have the opportunity to return to winning ways against Peru, who likewise failed to make it out of the group stages at Russia 2018.
After their torrid World Cup, Germany restored some pride last time out with a strong display against world champions France in the UEFA Nations League - although Les Bleus held on for a 0-0 draw thanks to a fine performance from Alphonse Areola.
TEAM NEWS - Germany substitutes: Leon Goretzka, Mats Hummels, Thomas Muller, Nils Petersen, Julian Draxler, Thilo Kehrer, Jonathan Tah, Kai Haverez, Antonio Rudiger, Manuel Neuer.
TEAM NEWS - Germany (4-3-3): Marc-Andre ter Stegen; Matthias Ginter, Jerome Boateng, Niklas Sule, Nico Schulz; Joshua Kimmich, Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan; Julian Brandt, Timo Werner, Marco Reus.
Low stuck with an experienced line up for the Nations League clash with France, but has gone for a more experimental starting XI this time. He looks to have switched to a 4-3-3, which is easier given he now does not have to accommodate Mesut Ozil in the side. While Hummels, Neuer and Muller all started on Thursday, they have been benched today, with the likes of Sule, Ter Steven and Brandt handed the chance to impress.
TEAM NEWS - Peru (4-2-3-1): Pedro Gallese; Luis Advincula, Anderson Santamaria, Miguel Araujo, Miguel Trauco; Pedro Aquino, Yoshimar Yotun; Raul Ruidiaz, Christian Cueva, Edison Flores; Jefferson Farfan.
There is no Paolo Guerrero for Peru, so Farfan, who spent seven years plying his trade in Germany with the Bundesliga side Schalke, starts up top. Peru looked sharp at times in Russia, but lacked the cutting edge to progress from the groups, and the onus will be on Cueva, Flores and Ruidiaz to support the frontman and stretch the hosts’ defence.
The teams are out on the pitch at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena. Now it's time for the national anthems.
An entertaining first half comes to a close, with Peru having given as good as they have got against a Germany side still attempting to bounce back from their terrible time in Russia a few months ago. It was the South Americans who took the lead against the run of play, making Germany pay for missing four gilt-edged chances - before Brandt, who has been excellent, restored parity.
Low definitely has some food for thought heading into the second half. He has the likes of Draxler and Muller to call on if needed, and Reus, who wasted three brilliant opportunities prior to Advincula’s opener, may well be one of the players who is taken off should Low feel the need to change things.
TEAM NEWS - Peru substitutes: Marcos Johan Lopez, Johan Madrid, Wilder Cartagena, Horacio Calcaterra, Christian Ramos, Jose Carvallo, Patricio Alvarez, Luis Abram, Nilson Loyola, Sergio Pena, Ray Sandoval, Andre Carrillo, Marcos Johan Lopez.
Well, that’s all from me. Thank you for reading and, until next time, goodbye!
Going forward, Germany looked sharper, though, playing with more pace and cutting edge. Brandt, who scored their first goal, was extremely impressive, and could thrive if Low is to trust the younger players rather than stick with the old guard.
Well, a far from convincing display from Germany, but they have at least returned to winning ways. Low will know there is plenty to improve on, though, especially at the back.
