For those wondering, Brazil are in all blue tonight while El Salvador are clad in white.
Hello, and welcome to our live commentary of this international friendly between Brazil and El Salvador!
Brazil come into this match having won four of their last five matches, with the one loss being the loss to Belgium, which eliminated the Selecao from the World Cup.
El Salvador are on a decent run of form themselves, having lost just once in their last five outings, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
Now let's take a look at who will be starting for each of these countries!
Neymar will be wearing the armband today having now been named permanent captain by manager Tite, who has forgone his former policy of rotating captains.
Brazil (4-3-3): Neto; Eder Militao, Marquinhos, Dede, Alex Sandro; Casemiro, Arthur, Philippe Coutinho; Douglas Costa, Richarlison, Neymar.
El Salvador (4-3-3): Henry Hernandez; Bryan Tamacas, Alexander Mendoza, Roberto Dominguez, Juan Barahona; Gilberto Baires, Fabricio Alfaro, Andres Flores; Oscar Ceren, Jaime Alas, Dennis Pineda.
Both teams are now out on the field and lined up for the anthems! Not long to go now!
One last lineup note, Richarlison, Arthur, Neto, and Eder Militao all make their first start of their Brazil careers tonight. Can one of them make the difference on their full debut?
Brazil were always favourites heading into this one and they've backed that up well. They easily could have scored a couple of more in the first half had they been a bit luckier. Richarlison will certainly be delighted to have scored on his full debut for the national team! The defence dominated at the World Cup conceding just three goals all tournament, and have looked similarly fantastic tonight despite the rotated cast. Expect more of the same in the second half, even with the many substitutions that are bound to happen.
El Salvador didn't look bad when they had the ball, that just did not happen often (37.5% possession). Pineda has looked dangerous going forward and likely represents their best chance at getting on the scoresheet tonight. The defence has not looked too bad, this Brazil attack is just that good. With two tactical switches already made, it's hard to imagine there's much more in the cupboard for manager Carlos de los Cobos.
It's hard to say a team gave a good account of themselves in a 5-0 defeat, but El Salvador did just that. They put on a decent performance but were just overwhelmed by one of the best footballing nations on this earth. Pineda looks a player who could make waves in the Primeira Liga this season. It's hard to see El Salvador becoming a footballing threat anytime soon but, with the weirdness of CONCACAF, they could have a shot at qualifying for the next World Cup if things fell right for them.
Brazil let El Salvador have a little bit more of the ball in the second half, but the result was the same. Neymar continues to perform well since being handed the captaincy, picking up a goal and three assists today. Richarlison scoring a brace on his full debut was also pretty special, especially considering the quality of the goals. The defence actually allowed multiple shots in the second half but, in a bend but don't break way, managed to keep the clean sheet. It's truly impressive to see how much young talent Brazil possess and you'd have to imagine they'll be one of the favourties come Qatar 2022.
Alright, that's it for our live coverage of this friendly between Brazil and El Salvador! We hope you enjoyed following along and will join us again soon!
