We're underway at Old Trafford.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Watford at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take charge of his first game as the permanent manager of Manchester United this afternoon. The Norwegian has been outstanding since replacing Jose Mourinho in the dugout, claiming more points during his tenure than the Portuguese managed from the start of the campaign until he was sacked in December. The only blight has been the defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-final last time out. Solskjaer will be determined to get his team back to winning ways against the Hornets.
Watford did advance to the semi-finals of the FA Cup after defeating Crystal Palace in their contest last time out. The Hornets are safe from the threat of relegation, sitting in eighth place in the Premier League. Javi Gracia has performed brilliantly in his duties and will be eyeing a seventh-place finish to place best of the rest in the top flight outside of the elite teams in the top six. They were unfortunate to lose their last Premier League outing 3-1 to Manchester City and will be attempting another stoic outing this afternoon.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-1-2): David de Gea; Ashley Young, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Luke Shaw; Ander Herrera, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Juan Mata; Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial.
WATFORD (4-2-3-1): Ben Foster; Daryl Janmaat, Christian Kabasele, Miguel Britos, Adam Masina; Abdoulaye Doucoure, Etienne Capoue; Gerard Deulofeu, Will Hughes, Roberto Pereyra; Troy Deeney.
SUBS: Hereulho Gomes, Isaac Success, Craig Cathcart, Andre Gray, Domingos Quina, Kiko Femenia, Jose Holebas.
The disappointing aspect of the first half from Watford's perspective was their lack of threat on De Gea's goal. Troy Deeney did head one effort across the face of goal, forcing the Spaniard into action. Other than that the shots have been tame to say the least.
Both teams are in action again in the Premier League during the week. United are away at Wolves just weeks removed from their FA Cup defeat, while Watford host Fulham at Vicarage Road.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
