We're underway at St Mary's Stadium.
There's still work ahead of Southampton to secure their place in the Premier League for next season. The Saints begin the day six points clear of Cardiff City in the final relegation spot, but a win would take them clear of the Bluebirds to the 40-point mark, which would all but secure their place in the top flight. Ralph Hasenhuttl's men were denied a win by a late Andre Gray goal against Watford during the week and will be more determined to get over the line this afternoon.
Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Southampton and Bournemouth at St Mary's Stadium.
Eddie Howe's men are enduring an inconsistent end to the season. They hammered Brighton and Hove Albion 5-0 two weeks ago, but then slumped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Fulham last time out. The Cherries will not want their campaign to peter out and will be desperate to finish as high in the table as possible to take momentum into next term.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-4-2): Angus Gunn; Yan Valery, Jan Bednarek, Jack Stephens, Ryan Bertrand; James Ward-Prowse, Oriol Romeu, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Nathan Redmond; Shane Long, Danny Ings.
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Charlie Austin, Stuart Armstrong, Mario Lemina, Matt Targett, Josh Sims, Fraser Forster, Kayne Ramsey.
BOURNEMOUTH (3-4-3): Artur Boruc; Chris Mepham, Steve Cook, Jack Simpson; Nathaniel Clyne, Dan Gosling, Jefferson Lerma, Nathan Ake; Callum Wilson, David Brooks, Joshua King.
BOURNEMOUTH SUBS: Lys Mousset, Jordon Ibe, Emerson Hyndman, Ryan Fraser, Asmir Begovic, Dominic Solanke, Sam Surridge.
Ralph Hasenhuttl will not be pleased with his side's first-half performance. They were in control in the early stages of the game and took a deserved lead, but were then pegged back, conceding a cheap goal on the counter before a poor save by Gunn allowed Wilson to score. The game is still there for the home side, but they will have to improve in the second period.
Southampton are next in action against West Ham United on the road next Saturday, while Bournemouth are at home against Tottenham.
Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
