A bit of pinball in the United area eventually ends up with Azpilicueta scooping the ball up for a fairly simple save for De Gea. Pedro then goes down with a spot of cramp.

Andreas Pereira enters the game and replaces D. James.
United make their first change of the evening, but there's no debut for Ighalo just yet. Pereira is the man introduced, with James making way.
79'
A. Wan-Bissaka gets yellow.
Wan-Bissaka is booked for reacting angrily to a fair-looking challenge from Azpilicueta.
76'
B. Williams gets yellow.
Williams is booked for a tug on Willian's shirt, preventing the Chelsea counter.
75'
United get a corner on the right, which is cleared towards Williams at the edge of the area. He opts not to shoot but gives the ball away to Giroud with an attempted square pass. Chelsea break, with Willian eventually winning a free-kick just inside the United half.
74'
The corner is easily knocked clear by Shaw at the near post.
72'
James bends the free-kick in towards the far post from the left touchline, but overhits it and it goes straight out for a goal kick.
71'
Bailly and Wan-Bissaka combine to deny Azpilicueta a crossing opportunity by the left corner flag, but they don't get the ball clear and eventually give away a free-kick.
68'
O. Giroud enters the game and replaces M. Batshuayi.
Giroud is being readied on the sideline for Chelsea, who are looking in big trouble now.
Batshuayi is the man replaced by Giroud in a straight swap up front. The Belgian missed some big chances in the first half, but had barely been a factor in the second.
66'
H. Maguire has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes has his first assist for United, for an inch-perfect corner.
GOOAALLL! United double their lead, Maguire comes in with a crashing header! The pressure tells as Fernandes delivers an excellent corner from the left towards the penalty spot, and the centre-half comes flying in to power the ball into the bottom-right corner.
65'
Zouma heads a United corner behind for another as the visitors apply their first spell of sustained pressure since the break.
64'
Pedro gets yellow.
Pedro is booked for a late challenge through the back of Fred.
63'
That is... absolutely bizarre from Pedro. With the ball deep in his own half, he dribbles it slowly backwards, jinking left and right to escape the attention of Fred but eventually losing the ball and pulling him down just outside the area. There were plenty of passing options for him there.
61'
United almost get in behind on the counter from a Chelsea corner, but Kovacic just about gets across to the ball before James.
59'
K. Zouma gets yellow.
Fred gets yellow.
Fred is booked for his part in the scuffle.
Zouma is also booked, either for the tackle on Martial or the handbags afterwards.
57'
This had already been a frustrating game for Chelsea, and that won't have made things any better for them. They are knocking on the door again, though.
54'
James is finding space in the channel for Chelsea now, with Willian pushing out wider. He clips in another cross which eventually leads to Mount firing off the post, but the whistle had already gone for handball against Batshuayi after Bailly headed the ball down onto his arm.
52'
James fizzes a ball into the feet of Mount, but Matic steps up ahead of him to intercept just outside the area.
51'
Fernandes plays a nice-looking ball in behind for Martial to chase down the left channel, but right-back James beats him for pace and sweeps up the danger.
50'
Willian bends in a cross from the right. It's a decent enough shape on the ball, but well overhit and it flies out for a throw-in on the other side.
49'
Willian and Jorginho combine with a couple of deft flicks to play Chelsea out of danger in their right-back area, but the move doesn't develop past the halfway line.
48'

Rudiger is booked early in the second half for blocking off Fernandes on the halfway line.
46'

45' +1
Three minutes of time added on.
45'
A. Martial has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by A. Wan-Bissaka.
GOOOAALLL! Manchester United lead out of nowhere, it's Martial! Fred found Wan-Bissaka on the right, and he turned Willian inside out before firing in a superb right-footed cross. Martial then did brilliantly to get above Christensen and flick a header just inside the far post.
Wan-Bissaka gets the assist for a superb cross, excellently turned home by Martial.
Chelsea make a change at the break. Zouma comes on for Christensen, who finished the first half with a bloody nose.
We're back! Chelsea get the second half underway, searching for a route back into the game.
44'
It looks as though Christensen took a whack to the nose from Martial as he hauled him down, as he's gone off with a bloody handkerchief to his face. He'll get patched up, and should be ok to carry on.
41'
Willian, Mount, Kovacic and Batshuayi combine in a nice Chelsea move through the centre, but they can't quite find space for a cross from the left.
40'
Rudiger finds James with a delicious cross-field ball out to the right touchline. It doesn't come to anything, but the pass deserved a mention.
38'
Martial finds Shaw on the overlap, the 24-year-old popping up unexpectedly on the left from his starting berth in a back three. He finds himself in all sorts of space but wastes the chance completely, firing a cross high over the crossbar.
35'
Willian gets yellow.
Azpilicueta scuffs a shot from the edge of the area but Matic dithers on the ball and Chelsea win it straight back, winning a corner.
Drama! Willian goes down in the area from the resulting corner, but is booked for diving. He went over an outstretched foot from Fernandes, but there didn't look to be much contact on first viewing.
34'
Fred steps away from Kovacic in midfield and there briefly looks to be a United break on the cards, but Christensen is on hand to put a foot in.
32'
Fernandes has his first pop from range, looping a right-footed effort wide to the right of goal from 25 yards. Still no shots on target from either side.
31'
Fernandes finds James in space through the centre, and the Welshman carries it forward before spreading the play to Williams on the left. He gets the cross in, but Kovacic covers well and stretches a boot to tip it behind for a corner.
30'
Azpilicueta stands up a delightful first-time cross from the left byline, but Willian can't get over Maguire to turn it goalwards.
29'
James looks to slide a ball in to the feet of Batshuayi after drifting in from the right, but he goes down and no foul is given.
28'
A United corner from the right is cleared away from the near post, but the ball is then fired back in towards the back stick. The ball stays in but two red shirts rather get in each other's way, and Chelsea can diffuse the situation easily enough.
27'
Chelsea are starting to take charge of proceedings now. The two sides have looked reasonably well matched for the most part, but it's the home side putting together the more dangerous moves.
21'
Martial gets into some space at the left corner of the penalty area and looks to bend a shot towards the far corner, but it's immediately charged down.
19'
United look to pass their way around the Chelsea defence, but can't find a way through and Chelsea counter. Pedro runs into Fred just outside the area and wants a free-kick, but referee Anthony Taylor isn't impressed.
17'
Wan-Bissaka gets over to make a good block on an attempted cross from Azpilicueta on the left. The resulting throw-in sees Pedro then get the better of the right-back, but his fizzed cutback is hacked away.
15'
Chelsea make a bit of a mess of playing the ball out of defence, but they just about hold onto the ball long enough for Caballero to spring the press with a long ball forward. In the end, Batshuayi can't control Jorginho's overhit pass in behind the United defence.
13'
United can't make anything of the corner, which is cleared after a second ball comes in.
12'
M. Mount enters the game and replaces N. Kanté.
United put together their first real move of the evening, as Fernandes and Fred combine at the edge of the area to tee the latter up for a shot. He hits it well but it deflects over the bar off Rudiger.
Mount is indeed the man to come on for Kante, who has limped off.
11'
Kante has gone off, and Chelsea are down to 10 men for the time being. Mount looks to be the man coming on, but the game is back underway in his absence.
9'
Chelsea threaten down the right again, and again it's Kovacic who leads the charge down the other side of the pitch. He looks to be fouled but Pedro plays on and finds the Brazilian in space on the right. He comes infield and shoots, but De Gea can watch it comfortably over the crossbar.
7'
United win a corner on the left, which Fernandes takes short. The man coming short then also passes back to Bailly, who isn't exactly known for his crossing ability but loops an awkward ball in towards Maguire at the far post. Chelsea scramble it clear.
3'
Bailly turns well away from Batshuayi, but holds the hall too long and runs straight into Pedro. Chelsea get the ball midway inside the United half but luckily for the away side, Kovacic's pass into the penalty area is intercepted.
2'
The first mistake of the evening comes from Chelsea, as Jorginho needlessly puts a first-time pass straight out of play at the halfway line.
1'
We're off! United get the ball rolling with Fernandes taking kick-off.
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Premier League game from Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea host Manchester United in a huge clash in the race for European football.
Frank Lampard’s side are looking to make amends for their heavy 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season. Chelsea start the game in fourth, five places and six points ahead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and United.
CHELSEA (4-3-3): Willy Caballero; Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Reece James; Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante; Willian, Michy Batshuayi, Pedro.
SUBS: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso, Ross Barkley, Kurt Zouma, Olivier Giroud, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori.
MANCHESTER UNITED (3-4-1-2): David de Gea; Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly; Brandon Williams, Nemanja Matic, Fred, Aaron Wan-Bissaka; Bruno Fernandes; Anthony Martial, Daniel James.
SUBS: Phil Jones, Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira, Diogo Dalot, Sergio Romero, Odion Ighalo, Mason Greenwood.
The players are on their way out onto the pitch, and kick-off is just moments away.
The forwards on the respective benches might be fancying a crack after the break. Batshuayi's profligacy will have Giroud interested, while Ighalo would be hopeful of finding some space with Chelsea committing more players forward.
The win takes United up past Everton and Wolves into seventh, three points behind Chelsea in fourth. They're two behind Tottenham in fifth, which now looks like being the last Champions League place after Manchester City's ban from UEFA.
That's it from me here this evening, I hope you've enjoyed following along. Until the next time, goodnight!
