It is given way by Bayern in their own half and the ball ends up with Hofmann. He slides Plea down the right channel and continues his run into the box. Plea, without looking, cuts it back into the box right onto the boot of Hofmann who makes no mistake and strokes it home.
Plea has been really bright in his forward work this game. He was key to Upamecano's red card and his pass to Hofmann is perfect and the German can't miss.
53'
Stindl works a tight angle but his cross - aiming for Plea - is intercepted and claimed by Sommer.

Davies makes a lovely burst down the left wing and the Canadian's pace is too much for the Gladbach defence. A great run from Davies down the wing and a good pass to find Choupo-Moting in the box.

Gladbach get this first half under way.
The home side, Borussia Monchengladbach, began the year looking towards the European places. One win in their last five games, however, has left Gladbach behind the pace and in 10th position. They will be looking for an immediate reaction after a disappointing 4-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Hertha Berlin last week but face a challenging task against the Bundesliga leaders, Bayern Munich.
Hello and welcome to this live commentary for the Bundesliga fixture between Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich from Borussia Park.
Bayern endured a sticky start to 2023 with three consecutive 1-1 draws. Since then the reigning champions have improved greatly, winning three straight Bundesliga games. They enter this encounter off the back of an impressive 1-0 away win against PSG in the Champions League. Julian Nagelsmann's side sit one point clear at the top of the table with Union Berlin and second and Borussia Dortmund in third.
BAYERN MUNICH (3-5-2): Yann Sommer; Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Daley Blind; Serge Gnabry, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Ryan Gravenberch, Alphonso Davies; Thomas Muller, Eric Choupo-Moting.
BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH SUBS: Julian Weigl, Marvin Friedrich, Marcus Thuram, Florian Neuhaus, Joe Scally, Tony Jantschke, Nathan N'Goumou Minpole, Patrick Herrmann, Jan Olschowsky.
BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH (4-2-3-1): Jonas Omlin; Stefan Lainer, Ko Itakura, Nico Elvedi, Ramy Bensebaini; Christoph Kramer, Kouadio Kone; Hannes Wolf, Jonas Hofmann, Lars Stindl, Alassane Plea.

Julian Nagelsmann is winless in four games against Gladbach in all competitions since joining Bayern (D2, L2) – he hasn’t faced any other side as often with Bayern without ever winning. He suffered his joint-highest defeat as a coach in professional football on his last trip to Gladbach, losing 5-0 in the DFB-Pokal in October 2021.
Gladbach had 12 efforts in that first half and Farke may well be wondering how his side aren't ahead. This Bayern side will look to keep attacking and he will demand a more ruthless edge from his side in the second half as they look for their second goal. In typical Nagelsmann style, Bayern have not let off the accelator since going a man down but they will have to be careful and try to avoid exposing Blind and Pavard too often against this pacy Gladbach front line.
That is all for today - thanks for tuning in!
That is Bayern's first loss in 2023 and gives Union Berlin a chance to move top when they play Schalke on Sunday. Gladbach move up to eighth after the win. It is Bundesliga action for both sides next with Gladbach travelling to face Mainz and Bayern hosting Union Berlin in what promises to be a huge game at the top of the Bundesliga.
