Shaw cynically stops a Southampton break by tripping Mara and gets booked. That's a poor foul, but it may be one that gets 10-man United over the line.
90' +5
Bella-Kotchap is receiving treatment, so we will likely get another additional minute or two.
90' +4
Unlucky! McTominay repels the first delivery, and the second cross almost finds Bella-Kotchap at the back post, stretching as he attempted to divert it home. The Saints man fails to make contact, and then stays down holding his leg.
90' +3
Adam Armstrong wins a corner off Pellistri on the Southampton left. Ward-Prowse stands over the set-piece.
90' +2
Ward-Prowse hauls Fred down deep in United territory, before the referee irks Old Trafford by stopping United from taking a quick free-kick. The pace of this match has barely dropped at any point!
90' +1
Fred is also on for Garnacho, who was still struggling to move freely.
Four added minutes are signalled by the fourth official as United attempt to build an attack.
90'

Maguire is on for Martinez for United. Ten Hag looks to be more content with this scoreline than Selles is.
89'

88'
Southampton are stretched again as Garnacho gets the chance to run at Bednarek. The United youngster still isn't moving well, however, and he is halted by a firm challenge.
Minute
Description
86'
United see two right-wing cut-backs intercepted as Lavia and Bella-Kotchap repel the pressure, shortly after Pellistri did well to get the Red Devils moving on the break.
85'
P. Onuachu enters the game and replaces T. Walcott.
Onuachu replaces Walcott for Southampton. Walcott will be frustrated after missing two of the visitors' best chances.
84'
Garnacho was struggling to put any weight on his right foot a moment ago, but he's back on, albeit not moving freely. United had Fred stripped and ready to replace him if needed, but he looks like he will attempt to continue.
83'
With Garnacho still off the pitch for treatment, United take the corner. It's cleared as far as Wan-Bissaka, who sees his shot blocked.
80'
Garnacho runs at Walker-Peters in the Southampton area, and the full-back makes a huge challenge to fell the United man and send the ball away for a corner. He's been excellent in this game.
78'
We're approaching the dying stages and this game remains in the balance. Both teams have made double substitutions in attack to inject some fresh legs – will any of the new arrivals make a difference?
77'
A. Armstrong enters the game and replaces K. Sulemana.
S. Mara enters the game and replaces C. Adams.
76'
Adams is also off, having been relatively quiet. Mara is on in his place.
Adam Armstrong enters the fray for Saints. Sulemana is off, having produced a lively display in attack.
75'

Antony makes way for Pellistri on the right. Rashford will play centrally now.
73'
A. Garnacho enters the game and replaces J. Sancho.
United make their double change. Sancho is replaced by Garnacho, who moves to the left flank.
72'
Walker-Peters flashes a cross into the six-yard box, which United desperately clear. Antony then breaks and sees a shot blocked, before Walcott responds by driving over at the other end. This is like a basketball game!
70'
United look to be readying two young attackers. Garnacho and Pellistri will soon be entering the fray. With the game still stretched, can they make the difference?
66'
The game has not become any less end-to-end since the red card. United escape after a goalmouth scramble at one end before Bednarek ends a promising United break with a strong challenge on Rashford.
65'
You can't help but think the Walcott of a few years ago would have taken that chance. He had so much time and space to decide how to finish it, and he eventually put it far too close to De Gea.
63'
Close! McTominay wins possession to set Antony on the break. The Brazilian finds Shaw in space with a good cross-field ball, but his volley is deflected wide for a corner!
61'
It's panic stations for United as Sulemana bursts into the area on the left. The Southampton wideman beats two challenges before turning the ball beyond the near post, but he's eventually penalised for a foul, seemingly on De Gea.
59'
United enjoy a better spell now as Rashford and Sancho link up on the left. The hosts eventually win a corner. They may need to make set-pieces count…
United waste the corner as Fernandes and Shaw combine from the short kick, only for the left-back to balloon an awful cross into the stands.
58'
That's brilliant defending from Martinez, and Fernandes should be grateful after setting Southampton on the break with some sloppy play. Sulemana looked to be through on goal, but Martinez raced back to win the ball and calmly turn his way out of trouble.
56'
Martinez makes a vital intervention with Walcott lurking at the back post. United simply can't get out at present.
55'
S. Armstrong enters the game and replaces C. Alcaraz.
Stuart Armstrong is the first man to enter the fray for Saints, replacing Alcaraz in midfield.
53'
Now Fernandes fouls Lavia to give Saints a free-kick 25 yards out. Ward-Prowse is one direct free-kick goal away from matching David Beckham's Premier League record. Is this the moment?
52'
Walcott slips when through on goal, but the flag goes up! United hearts were in mouths for a moment there as Walcott faced up to De Gea, but the Southampton man went too early.
51'
United are struggling to retain possession as Southampton try to take charge. McTominay fouls Lavia in midfield, and Saints can build an attack.
48'
McTominay and Fernandes are playing in the middle in a 4-4-1 for United now. Sancho has started this half up front, with Antony on the right and Rashford to the left.
46'
Southampton kick us off for the second half! Can they make their numerical advantage count?
No further changes for United at the break. Southampton are likely to step things up in the next 45 minutes, but the Red Devils are often at their best with space to run into and will fancy their chances of troubling Saints.
45' +1
HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 0-0 SOUTHAMPTON
45'
That change has seen Rashford move into a central striking role. He almost latches onto Varane's free-kick over the top, but Walker-Peters eases him out to clear as we enter one additional minute.
44'
S. McTominay enters the game and replaces W. Weghorst.
United opt to make their first change now, rather than waiting for half-time. Weghorst is sacrificed, with McTominay on to shore up the midfield.
41'
United's corner comes to nothing and Saints break, but Shaw races back to win possession from Walcott. What an open first half this has been!
40'
Fernandes goes down inside the area under a challenge from Walker-Peters, sparking a furious reaction from Southampton's players. United's players surround the referee, but the tackle was inch-perfect – Walker-Peters clearly got the ball. United have to settle for a corner.
39'
Ten Hag is deep in discussions with McTominay on the sidelines, so a substitution looks imminent.
37'
Surely Ten Hag will be considering a change now. United have looked threatening in attack, but with Casemiro off, there's an unbalanced look to their midfield. Fernandes and Sancho are holding the fort in the middle for now.
35'
Southampton have been bright throughout this game, and with United's midfield mainstay Casemiro sent off, they will view this as a great chance to cause an upset!
34'
Casemiro goes off after a red card!
RED CARD! CASEMIRO IS OFF! Anthony Taylor watches the incident back, and the Brazilian can have absolutely no complaints as his yellow card is upgraded to a red. His challenge took him over the top of the ball, and while there was no ill intent, Alcaraz could have been hurt. Casemiro is distraught as he trudges from the field.
30'
We're past the half-hour mark at Old Trafford, and though United have created a couple of good chances for Rashford, Southampton have missed the best opportunity of the game through Walcott. Ten Hag's men look slightly unbalanced in midfield without Fred, and they could do with a spell of possession to calm things down.
29'
Good defending! Now Sulemana breaks in behind on the Southampton left and shoots from a narrow angle. He makes a good connection, but Varane chases back to throw himself in front of the shot. Southampton have looked menacing on that side in the first 29 minutes.
27'
Fernandes shoots over! United escape Southampton's press as Shaw finds Antony in space. The Brazilian checks onto his left foot and finds Fernandes, whose 30-yard effort bends just over!
25'
Southampton win a couple of corners in quick succession. While Weghorst and Varane are on hand to clear, United are in a game here, Southampton should be ahead!
22'
Now Southampton find space near the edge of the United area, but Walcott's cut-back towards Alcaraz is intercepted by Varane. It's been an end-to-end start here, with both sides finding space on the break.
21'
Shaw and Rashford lead a United counter-attack following an excellent ball from Casemiro. However, Shaw's loose touch allows Walcott in, and he promptly fouls the Southampton man.
19'
Southampton have been competitive early on, but they have had two huge warnings in the last few minutes. With the form Rashford has been in, he certainly should have done better with the second chance!
12'
This is better from United as Fernandes breaks in behind in the left-hand channel. He attempts an outside-of-the-boot cross with Rashford lurking, but Bella-Kotchap stretches to clear.
11'
Ward-Prowse works the resulting free-kick short 35 yards from goal, and Walker-Peters advances to the edge of the area to shoot. His strike is well-hit, but it's straight at De Gea!
10'
Lisandro Martínez gets yellow.
Now Casemiro gives the ball away, allowing Southampton to break. Alcaraz is clattered by Martinez, who becomes the first played to be booked.
9'
A loose ball in midfield briefly gives Southampton a numerical advantage on the break, but Martinez gets across to make a firm challenge on Walcott, putting paid to the Saints attack.
8'
Casemiro is on hand to win the ball fairly from Sulemana in his own penalty area. Southampton are pressing high in the early exchanges, and they were almost caught out by Antony and Wan-Bissaka a few moments ago.
5'
United find space on the break as Wan-Bissaka underlaps Antony. The Brazilian finds him with a well-weighted ball in behind, but his cut-back deflects into the arms of Bazunu.
4'
Perraud and Sulemana link up on the left-hand side for Southampton, with the latter breaking in behind Wan-Bissaka, but his low cross is cleared comfortably by Varane.
3'
Casemiro attempts to get United moving with a ball into Antony, but the Brazilian fouls Bella-Kotchap near the Southampton area.
2'
It's an intriguing United set-up here. Weghorst appears to be leading the line, with Sancho in the number 10 role and Rashford moving out to the left. Fernandes is sitting deeper alongside Casemiro – he will need to be more disciplined than he was at Anfield!
1'
We're under way at Old Trafford as United get the ball rolling!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of this Premier League fixture from Old Trafford as Manchester United host Southampton!
United responded to their humiliating 7-0 defeat at Liverpool in fine fashion on Thursday, hammering Real Betis 4-1 to claim the advantage in their Europa League last-16 tie. Erik ten Hag's men turn their attentions back to league action here, knowing a win over Saints would take them four points clear of fourth-placed Tottenham – and 10 ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool.
Southampton, meanwhile, are in desperate need of points after seeing several fellow relegation candidates earn results on Saturday. Ruben Selles' team are bottom and three points behind 17th-placed Bournemouth after the Cherries' shock victory over Liverpool. Saints did claim a vital 1-0 win over Leicester City last time out – their second in three league games under Selles – so perhaps they should not be written off just yet.
MANCHESTER UNITED (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw; Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro; Antony, Wout Weghorst, Jadon Sancho; Marcus Rashford.
MANCHESTER UNITED SUBS: Tom Heaton, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia, Fred, Diogo Dalot, Facundo Pellistri, Scott McTominay, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-2-3-1): Gavin Bazunu; Kyle Walker-Peters, Jan Bednarek, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Romain Perraud; Romeo Lavia, James Ward-Prowse; Kamaldeen Sulemana, Carlos Alcaraz, Theo Walcott; Che Adams.
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Alex McCarthy, Duje Caleta-Car, Adam Armstrong, Paul Onuachu, Stuart Armstrong, Sekou Mara, Mohammed Salisu, Mohamed Elyounoussi, Ibrahima Diallo.
While United have carved out chances through neat interplay from Antony, Rashford and Fernandes, they looked slightly unbalanced from the off, an issue which will only be exacerbated by Casemiro's absence. McTominay has come on to add some steel in midfield, but relegation-threatened Southampton will see this as a great chance to earn three valuable points!
It ends goalless at Old Trafford as the referee blows for full-time, but nobody is quite sure how! Casemiro's first-half red card for a lunging challenge on Alcaraz made an already open contest even more evenly-matched. Fernandes went closest for United when he saw his shot tipped onto the post by Bazunu, while both Ward-Prowse and Walker-Peters rattled the woodwork at the other end. All in all, a draw was probably the right result.
We hope you've enjoyed our live coverage of an entertaining draw from Old Trafford, and we hope to see you next time!
For United, the stalemate keeps them two points above fourth-placed Tottenham in third, while they are eight points clear of top-four chasing Liverpool and appear certain to secure a Champions League return at the end of the season. Southampton remain bottom, but with eight other teams within just five points of Selles' men, their battle to avoid the drop is far from over!
